Really enjoyed this @Tallgrassbeer Buffalo Sweat Stout w/Vanilla Beans. Any time I get some vanilla as advertised… I’m really happy.
I picked it up on a whim when I was up in Wisconsin visiting my sister. If you ever get a chance to go to Tenuta’s in Kenosha, do it. Such a great little spot with a ton of beer.
Oh me oh my @GooseIsland. I daresay this is one of the most delicious brews I’ve ever had from you guys. It was impossible to find, unfortunately I didn’t have a firstborn to trade… Only by luck did I get a chance to taste some, and it was niiiiiiiiiice.
Smooth like a BCS should be, with just the right amount of sweet cherry lovin’. Bourbon County has to be one of the best lines of beers ever made.
@lagunitasbruhws Cappuccino Stout. Have I mentioned how excited I am that we’ll have another great brewery in Chicago? It’s going to be legen….wait for it….dary! This stout definitely delivers on coffee, which I typically avoid….. but…. I’m either growing to like that flavor more, or they just got it right. Definitely a nice stout.
Nice stout from @BigMuddyBrewing. Finally a Vanilla Stout that has vanilla as advertised! A solid brew that I’d really like to try on tap. I’m looking forward to finding some time to visit. It’s too bad that Illinois is such a loooooong state.
Anyone have any suggestions for other good vanilla forward beers?
Disclaimer: I have been spoiled at a tasting with @3floyds BBA Dark Lord w/Vanilla Beans. Bar is set a little high…. So delicious.
I must say @Magichat … this is delicious. Joseph Conrad would be proud! I have a hard time with coffee in my stouts, but you found a way to blend it just right. This stout is dangerously drinkable, smooth with just the right amount of everything. Definitely something to have on hand in the fridge.
@foundersbrewing I love you, really I do, and I’m sure this beer is great to some people, but I can’t help but be put off by too much coffee. Perhaps I’m over-sensitive to it since it’s the one flavor I can’t take too much of? I guess I just saw Double Chocolate and Oatmeal and thought I could handle it. Eh bien!
At least there will always be KBS, my fave!
*edit 11/4/12 further thoughts: Coffee flavor is good in beer. Well, it can be good. But there needs to be a good balance. When a beer advertises other flavors, I like to taste a little more of them. This is just one of those subjective things. Some people dig certain flavors in certain amounts more than others. It is the way of things, and one of the reasons why there is such amazing, experimental and interesting beer out there!
Very cool! I like the little history tidbit too:
“In England, post-operative patients used to be given Guinness, as were blood donors, based on the belief that it was high in iron.
Pregnant women and nursing mothers were at one stage advised to drink Guinness - the present advice is against this.”
MINT CHOCOLATE STOUT?
New Collaboration beer between Stone, Iron Fist, and Homebrewing champ Ken Schmidt. I want this:

MMMmmmmmmmmmmm! Sounds soooo good!
This is the lineup from a tasting I had with some friends in the city on Saturday. While I do have some individual shots of the beer bottles/cans, I thought I’d get this up there to remind myself how fortunate I am not only to have good friends, but also to have good friends that are so generous (as you can see by some of the selections).
Salud! To all of my friends that I’ve tasted with in the past and will taste with in the future.
